COMPANY TO INVEST $2.4 MILLION IN EQUIPMENT AND AUTOMATION
Morcon Tissue opened this tissue conversion plant in Great Falls, SC in 2002. Today, they are the Town of Great Falls’ largest employer with 90 existing employees. They produce napkins, towels, tissue, and dispensers for their own products lines, as well as private label brands. Historically, their products were primarily marketed towards commercial and retail applications. In the wake of the pandemic, Morcon has continued to diversify the customer base by offering new products geared towards consumers.
Morcon Tissue is investing $2.4 million in the Great Falls facility with plans that include adding two napkin machines and automation equipment, such as case packers and palletizers. This in addition to more than $700,000 they invested in 2021. While this investment will net only one new job, it will replace 15 unskilled jobs with higher paying craftsman and operator positions that have higher wages. This will create advancement opportunities for existing workers.

This will create opportunities for promotions from within for existing workers,” said Robert Long, director of Chester County Economic Development. “Companies need to invest in themselves to remain competitive.”
