Chester County is proud to announce that Economic Development Director Robert Long has been inducted into the Southern Economic Development Hall of Fame – Volume 4, a prestigious recognition honoring leaders who have made a lasting impact on economic growth and development across the Southern United States.

The Southern Economic Development Hall of Fame highlights a select group of professionals whose careers demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to strengthening regional economies. Inductees are recognized not only for their professional achievements but also for their long-term commitment to community advancement and collaboration across industries.

Robert Long’s inclusion in Volume 4 reflects more than three decades of service in economic development. A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), Long has built a career centered on fostering regional growth and creating opportunities for communities to thrive. His work has earned widespread respect, including recognition in 2022 as one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers.

Throughout his career, Long has held leadership roles across South Carolina and beyond, contributing to major economic initiatives and partnerships. From his early work with the Aiken/Edgefield Economic Development Partnership to leadership positions in Darlington, Gwinnett County, and Forsyth County, his experience spans both local and regional development efforts. Since returning to South Carolina in 2020, he has led Chester County’s economic development strategy, bringing valuable expertise and vision back to the community.

The Hall of Fame recognition highlights Long’s commitment to building strong communities through economic opportunity, as well as his ability to foster collaboration and drive meaningful progress. His leadership continues to play a key role in shaping Chester County’s future.
