FORMER I-77 SPEEDWAY TO BE DEMOLISHED
The I-77 Speedway located at 2657 Lancaster Hwy, Chester, SC 29706 was a local institution for many years in Chester County. It was established in 1980s as a 4/10-mile clay oval track but closed in 2013. After years of underutilization, Alliance DriveAway Solutions, Inc. has purchased the former track.
Alliance DriveAway will be building their corporate headquarters, driver training facility, and storage lot for semi tractors at this 29-acre location. The company is a full-service provider for the moving and transportation of Class A semis throughout the United States and Canada. They are currently located in Pinehurst, NC.
“We are excited about moving the operation and corporate office to Chester County,“ said LJ Lyda, CEO, Alliance DriveAway Solutions. “My husband Tate and I started Alliance in 2012 to become an industry leader in vehicle driveaway services. This new location along Interstate 77 will better position us to meet the needs of our customers.”
“Although I hate to see the I-77 Speedway go away, I am delighted to welcome Alliance DriveAway Solutions,” said Councilman Joe Branham, District 3, Chester County Council. “I am especially happy that this will also include their corporate headquarters. This will provide great job opportunities for the citizens of Chester County.”
“The company has already begun work on the demolition of the grandstands,” said Robert Long, director, Chester County Economic Development. “Initially, Alliance DriveAway Solutions will be investing $4.5 million and creating up to 10 new jobs. Chester County is a great location for logistic companies like Alliance.”
